Terms of Use for Student Cornr
These Terms of Use and End User License Agreement ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Student Cornr mobile application, related websites, content, software, features, and services (collectively, the "App" or "Services") provided by Student Cornr ("Student Cornr," "we," "us," or "our").
By downloading, accessing, creating an account for, or using Student Cornr, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
If you obtained the App through Apple's App Store, the Apple-specific terms in Section 20 also apply.
Eligibility
You may use Student Cornr only if :
- you are legally able to enter into a binding agreement;
- you comply with these Terms and applicable laws; and
- where required, you have permission from a parent, guardian, school, or other authorized person.
You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the App is permitted in your jurisdiction and by your institution.
Description of the Services
Student Cornr is a student-focused platform that may include features such as:
- academic group chats and study groups;
- direct and group audio/video communication;
- file upload, storage, caching, download, and sharing;
- AI-powered study assistance and productivity tools;
- student housing discovery, listings, scheduling, and related workflows;
- student marketplace features for listings, products, and stores; and
- subscriptions, premium features, or digital entitlements.
Some features may not be available in all regions, on all devices, or at all times.
Account Registration and Security
You may need to create an account to use some features. You agree to:
- provide accurate, current, and complete information;
- keep your login credentials secure;
- promptly update your information when it changes; and
- accept responsibility for activities that occur under your account.
You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
License Grant
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to download, install, and use the App on devices you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use and only as permitted by these Terms and applicable platform rules.
You may not:
- copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, or exploit the App except as expressly permitted;
- reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive source code, except where prohibited restrictions are unenforceable by law;
- circumvent technical protections, security features, or usage restrictions;
- use the App to build a competing product or service; or
- use the App in a way that violates applicable law, institutional policy, or these Terms.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Student Cornr to:
- harass, threaten, intimidate, or abuse others;
- upload, send, or store unlawful, fraudulent, defamatory, obscene, hateful, or sexually exploitative content;
- impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with a school, landlord, business, or organization;
- violate intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights;
- spread malware, spam, phishing, scams, or harmful code;
- interfere with the operation, security, or performance of the Services;
- scrape, harvest, or mass-collect user data without authorization;
- share unauthorized exam materials, stolen content, or confidential institutional content; or
- use the App to arrange or promote unlawful transactions.
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access for violations or suspected violations.
User Content
You may upload, send, post, transmit, or store content through Student Cornr, including messages, files, images, listings, profile details, comments, and other materials ("User Content").
You retain ownership of your User Content. However, by submitting User Content through the Services, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable license to host, store, cache, reproduce, process, adapt, display, transmit, and distribute that content solely as needed to:
- operate and provide the Services;
- improve service functionality, safety, moderation, and performance;
- make content available to intended recipients or participants; and
- comply with law, enforce these Terms, or protect rights and safety.
You represent that you have the rights necessary to submit the User Content and grant the license above.
Group Chats, Calls, and Shared Files
Student Cornr may let users communicate through group chats, audio/video calls, and file sharing. You understand and agree that:
- messages, attachments, and files may be transmitted through third-party infrastructure used to provide the Services;
- files may be temporarily or locally cached on your device to support performance and offline access;
- group administrators or authorized users may manage certain group settings and membership;
- we do not guarantee permanent retention of chat history, files, or shared materials unless expressly stated; and
- you are solely responsible for the content you share and for ensuring you have the right to share it.
You should not use Student Cornr to store highly sensitive information unless you are comfortable with the risks inherent in digital services.
AI Features
Student Cornr may offer AI-generated responses, summaries, explanations, suggestions, or other outputs.
You acknowledge that:
- AI outputs may be incomplete, inaccurate, biased, outdated, or unsuitable;
- AI outputs are provided for general informational and educational support only;
- AI outputs are not legal, medical, financial, professional, or institutional advice;
- you are responsible for reviewing and validating AI-generated content before relying on it; and
- we are not responsible for academic penalties, lost opportunities, decisions, or outcomes arising from reliance on AI outputs.
Housing Features
Student Cornr may provide housing-related tools, listings, scheduling, inspections, verification workflows, or communications. Unless we expressly state otherwise, Student Cornr is not a landlord, broker, property manager, insurer, lender, or guarantor.
We do not guarantee:
- the accuracy, legality, safety, availability, pricing, habitability, or suitability of any property;
- the identity, conduct, solvency, or honesty of landlords, agents, tenants, or hosts; or
- the success of any housing arrangement or payment outcome.
Users are responsible for conducting their own due diligence before making housing decisions.
Marketplace Features
Student Cornr may allow users or vendors to list, discover, promote, or sell goods or services. Unless expressly stated otherwise, Student Cornr is not the seller of third-party goods and is not responsible for the quality, legality, delivery, safety, fitness, authenticity, or accuracy of third-party listings.
Transactions between users or vendors are at their own risk. Users are responsible for compliance with applicable consumer, trade, tax, and product laws.
Subscriptions, Digital Purchases, and Billing
Student Cornr may offer premium plans, subscriptions, coins, storage, or other digital features through in-app purchase or other permitted payment flows.
If you purchase an auto-renewable subscription:
- the subscription automatically renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period;
- your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period;
- you can manage and cancel subscriptions through your App Store or Google Play account settings, as applicable;
- any free trial, if offered, converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled before renewal; and
- except where required by law, payments are non-refundable once charged.
Current subscription details, including title, duration, price, and applicable legal links, are displayed in the app purchase flow.
If you purchase through Apple, Apple's billing terms also apply.
Restore Purchases
If your digital purchases are restorable, you may use the "Restore Purchases" function in the App. Restoration only applies to eligible purchases associated with the relevant platform account and is subject to platform policies.
Third-Party Services and Links
The App may contain links to third-party websites, payment pages, tools, APIs, cloud providers, or communication infrastructure. Your use of third-party services may be governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
We are not responsible for third-party services, content, availability, or practices.
Privacy
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information.
Termination and Suspension
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to all or part of the Services at any time, with or without notice, if:
- you violate these Terms;
- we reasonably suspect fraud, abuse, unlawful conduct, or security risk;
- we are required to do so by law; or
- we discontinue the relevant feature or service.
You may stop using the App at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App and Services are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, and quiet enjoyment.
We do not warrant that:
- the App will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free;
- data will never be lost, corrupted, delayed, or intercepted;
- content or outputs will be accurate or reliable; or
- defects will always be corrected.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Student Cornr and its affiliates, officers, employees, contractors, licensors, and partners will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, opportunity, academic standing, business, or property arising out of or related to your use of the App.
Our total liability for any claim arising out of or related to the App will not exceed the greater of:
- the amount you paid to us for the relevant Service in the 12 months before the claim;
- ₦20,000.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Student Cornr and its affiliates, officers, employees, contractors, and partners from and against claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising out of or related to:
- your use of the App;
- your User Content;
- your violation of these Terms; or
- your violation of any law or the rights of another person.
Changes to the Services or Terms
We may modify these Terms or any part of the Services from time to time. If changes are material, we may provide notice through the App, by email, or by other reasonable means.
Your continued use of the App after the updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Apple App Store Additional Terms
If you obtained the App through the Apple App Store, you acknowledge and agree that:
- these Terms are concluded between you and Student Cornr only, and not with Apple;
- Student Cornr, and not Apple, is solely responsible for the App and its content;
- the license granted to you for the App is limited to a non-transferable license to use the App on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store terms and usage rules;
- Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance or support services with respect to the App;
- to the extent not effectively disclaimed above, in the event of any failure of the App to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price for the App to you if applicable; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple will have no other warranty obligation with respect to the App;
- Student Cornr, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the App or your possession and use of the App, including product liability claims, claims that the App fails to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, and claims arising under consumer protection, privacy, or similar laws;
- in the event of any third-party claim that the App or your possession and use of the App infringes a third party's intellectual property rights, Student Cornr, not Apple, will be solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of such claim;
- you represent and warrant that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties;
- you must comply with applicable third-party terms when using the App; and
- Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance of them, Apple will have the right to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Lagos, Nigeria, excluding conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory local consumer protection laws require otherwise.
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services will be resolved in the courts located in magistrate court Igbosere Obalende Lagos, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
